Core concept
Dividend yield and dividend amount are different values
Dividend yield is the annual dividend as a percentage of the invested amount, while the dividend amount is cash flow expressed as money. An estimated annual dividend can be calculated from either investment amount and yield or shares held and annual dividend per share.
While price-return calculators focus on asset price movement, this calculator helps you understand cash flow under assumptions you provide. It does not recommend securities or predict future dividends.
Calculation methods
Choose the method that matches what you know and want to find
By investment
Use an investment amount and assumed annual yield to estimate the annual dividend and its monthly average.
By shares held
Use shares held and annual dividend per share to estimate the annual dividend and its monthly average.
Required investment
Use a target dividend and assumed annual yield to calculate the minimum whole-KRW investment required.
Required shares
Use a target dividend and annual dividend per share to calculate both the exact and minimum whole-share quantities required.
Monthly average
A monthly average is not the actual monthly payment
The monthly average divides the annual dividend by 12 for easier comparison. Actual dividends may be paid monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or irregularly, so the displayed amount does not mean the same payment arrives every month.

Required investment
Minimum required investment: KRW 300,000,000
Average monthly target KRW 1,000,000 · assumed annual dividend yield 4%
This is calculated from an annual target before tax of KRW 12,000,000.
Required shares
Minimum whole-share quantity: 834 shares
Average monthly target KRW 500,000 · assumed annual dividend per share KRW 7,200
The estimated annual dividend before tax for 834 shares is KRW 6,004,800.
Before using the result
Results are before-tax reference values based on annual assumptions
- Dividend yield and annual dividend per share are calculation assumptions and do not guarantee future payments.
- All results are before tax and exclude dividend taxes, withholding, fees, and account-specific tax treatment.
- Amounts are entered and displayed in KRW. Currency conversion is not provided.
- General estimates are rounded to the nearest KRW. Minimum required investment and minimum whole-share quantity are rounded up so the displayed result does not fall short of the target.
Frequently asked questions
Is the monthly average dividend an amount I receive every month?
No. It is a comparison value calculated by dividing the estimated annual dividend by 12. Actual payment timing and amounts depend on the asset's distribution schedule and policy.
Does the dividend yield guarantee future dividends?
No. The yield entered is your assumption. Actual yield can change with the dividend amount and asset price.
How should I enter the annual dividend per share?
Enter the total amount assumed to be paid per share over one year, regardless of payment frequency. Do not enter only a single distribution.
What does a 4% dividend yield mean?
It assumes the annual dividend equals 4% of the invested amount. It does not mean price returns or dividend yield will remain at 4%.
Are taxes and fees included?
No. Taxes vary by country, asset, and account type, so all results are shown before fees and taxes.
Can I calculate dividends from U.S. stocks?
The calculator uses KRW amounts and does not convert between foreign currencies and KRW. It cannot automatically convert foreign-currency dividends into KRW results.
Can I use it for ETF distributions?
Yes, as a reference. Enter an annualized distribution yield or the total annual distribution per share or unit. Actual distribution structure and amounts vary by product and period.
How are fractional holdings and required shares handled?
You can enter a positive fractional quantity when calculating from shares held. Required-shares mode also shows the exact fractional result, but its primary result is rounded up to whole shares so the target is not missed. Fractional-share availability varies by broker.
